Dough-how & more history
In the year 1948, Mr. Gustav A. Seewer founded the engineering workshop in Burgdorf, precursor of Seewer AG, Burgdorf.

In July 1953, a patent was registered for a dough sheeting machine fitted with a slipping drive clutch. This invention was the first dough sheeting machine with belts that worked on both sides. Consequently, it developed into the main product of the Seewer company.

The domestic market in Switzerland, in which the company very quickly attained a strong position, soon became too small, so an early start was made to the systematic establishment of an export organisation. Seewer founded subsidiaries that operate as sales and service companies in the most important sales markets:

1960 Seewer KG, Germany
1964 Rondo Inc., USA
1974 Seewer Rondo, France
1984 Rondo Ltd., England
1989 Rondo S.r.l., Italy
1990 Rondo Bakery E quipment Inc., Canada
1997 A sales office in Malaysia to support Southeast Asian markets
1998 A sales office in Moscow (in the meantime expanded into a subsidiary)
2006 Sales offices in China and Spain
The other European and overseas sales markets are supported by general agencies. The export share is more than 95%.

The main focus of production in Burgdorf is on machines for artisanal and semi-industrial bakeries. In order to supplement the range of products with industrial production installations and systems, an Italian company specialising in this field, Doge Food Processing Machinery, in Schio near Vicenza, was acquired in 1997.

As the situation with the names Rondo, Seewer and Doge frequently led to confusion, the new name RONDO and the new logo were introduced in 2009.
